Scenario: Three months have now gone by since you met with Wally in the prior scenario. You provided Wally with the assistance you thought was appropriate. He made some improvement but is still not taking full initiative. You still find him occasionally waiting for people to bring him work. But you’re not ready to give up on Wally. You think that with more focused coaching, he can be a top-performing employee. You believe in him and want to keep him on your team.
