Think of habits you can form that sustain your mental and physical health.
Scenario: During your annual physical, your doctor tells you that your stress level is about to kill you. This is not a big surprise since your boss constantly says and does things that make you feel anxious about losing your job even though you consistently meet expectations. You have one year to live if you don’t make major changes in your pace of work and lifestyle. You have to reduce your workload to a level that allows you to spend quality time with your family, exercise, and relax. Even though your personality preference is to be highly conscientious, you have to quickly get to a point where you don’t think about your work issues when at home, you sleep well, and you do all of this without feeling guilty. You also have to keep working in your same job for your same boss for the foreseeable future. Changing jobs isn’t an option right now.
What would be your plan of action?
